Originality At Its Best

Go ahead, yell at me. I am just tired of this exact same concept done in the exact same fashion. I may not be the most original person in the world, but I can recognize when something is overdone.

peace,
jeffrey

It's very difficult to come up with an original idea, and those that do usually are inspired by things like this. Maybe it's just a starting point to something better and things like this are like a necessary evil that must be done to move forward.

Just my thoughts... ;)

Yea, I can agree that people often need to be inspired and use things like this as a stepping stone to grow creatively. I just think there's a point where you recognize that something has been created numerous times before - so you expand upon the idea in some manner, forming a slightly more original piece of work.

Your point is valid, thank you for commenting!

I did a photo like this for Photo I last semester (it was a shadow assignment, and I was feeling lazy). I was appalled by how many people thought it was a really good photo.
*mmusA:iconmmusA: Apr 22, 2008, 7:38:51 PM
Haha! See, the fact that you were appalled shows you knew that you could have expanded on the idea somehow and been more proud of the end result. *inhale* that was wordy sentence, my bad. But you said you were being lazy, so... oh well.

It's such a cheesy concept that I think even if you found a way to do it in a more original manner, your added efforts would only result in a slightly more interesting realization of a bad concept.

:rof: You do realize that nothing is truly original, right? It's just that we try to interpret things differently.
*mmusA:iconmmusA: Apr 22, 2008, 7:53:56 PM
Perhaps, but my point is that at least you tried. You thought past "oh look, that's a neat idea, I should do it!" and attempted to put your own creativity into it. Whether it succeeded or not is another thing all together.
*mmusA:iconmmusA: Apr 22, 2008, 8:03:15 PM
Yes I understand that everything we do is based on what we've learned or observed elsewhere, but I get frustrated when a creative idea or concept is just laterally copied from one artist to another. I mean this is art we are talking about, not a calculus problem with only so many "correct" ways to arrive at a "correct" result; there should be modifications... tweaks... expansions... collaborations... any attempt to mix it up a little and use our individual creative minds.

Like I said, I realize my work is not the most original out there, I'm just speaking my thoughts on extreme examples like this one.

ok, i have a challenge for you...make this more original.
