Shrug of My Shoulders

Journal Entry: Fri Jul 18, 2008, 8:20 PM
*Complaint Alert*

I still don't have Photoshop on my new computer, and my trial ran out awhile ago. Gimp is a pain in my ass. I have photos I want to make some quick adjustments to, throw a border and my name on, and upload here... but alas, I have these issues.

The job that I love ends in a couple weeks and I don't want to leave. The current plan is to fly back to South Carolina and continue living with my parents, as well as continue working at Olive Garden. I'm liking the idea less and less as it becomes near.

I want to move someplace new. I want to travel and enjoy life to the fullest. There are so many things I love doing that I don't do one tenth as much as I would like to; concerts, movies, photography, road trips, beaches, staying up late with amazing people, visiting my mum in Cali, long boarding, random freelance jobs for bands, etc etc etc.

I'm only 22, I don't want to feel old and unaccomplished already. It's time to renew my motivation, spark up that life inside of me.

Peace,
Jeffrey

Wide Angle / Macro

Journal Entry: Sat Jun 28, 2008, 4:21 PM
In preparation for my big wide angle purchase I decided to get a very inexpensive wide angle + macro converter lense. I've been playing around with it the last couple days, and I really enjoy the macro shots I'm creating. I have saved up for the real wide angle (probably the Canon 10-22mm), and I still plan to get it, but I'm still a tad scared to make that transaction.

My job is awesome. I am so happy. For those that don't know, I work for Upward Bound at the University of Maine. It is a federally funded program for high school students that prepares them for college through classes, work experience, and dorm life. I am currently a Resident Counselor in the dorm this summer, and it rocks. That's a long story short, but if you want to know more go ahead and ask :)

Okay - time to upload some more photos. Ciao!

Peace,
Jeffrey

Happy

Journal Entry: Tue Jun 10, 2008, 3:01 PM
I am in Maine and I am loving it. My friends, the ocean, the shops, the bars, the restaurants... SO very happy to be here. And I start my job at Upward Bound on Monday the 16th! Very excited for that. I just went shopping and got the last few things I needed for the summer, I think I am all set now. Pillow, sheets, body wash, toothpaste... yep.

I just put up a few new photos, and a few more coming very soon. Went to Popham beach in Phippsburg and got some pretty nice shots. Also took a nap and the sun kindly painted my back like a fire truck. Feels GREAT! :sarcasm:

Please comment on my new stuff! I feel I hardly get any comments or critique anymore, it's stifling my creative growth people! Don't just tell me what you like, I want to hear honesty so I can learn.

Alright, I'm off to enjoy my new sneakers, eat some food, and go bowling. Ciao!

Peace,
Jeffrey

Skateboard Project Status

Journal Entry: Mon May 26, 2008, 5:44 PM
So here is how the skateboard project is going so far: after sanding it down and cleaning it up, I picked a design and started spray painting it on using very homemade stencils. I chose my design because of where I got the board; a junkyard in Phoenix called Death Valley Auto Parts. With that name, and the colors of the Arizona state flag, I came up with something. This is half finished. I am most likely going to sand down the "cactus" side and repaint it with something else. Anyway, enough rambling. Here, look!

My honest opinion - I hurried, didn't wait long enough for paint to dry, and didn't plan out my design thoroughly enough. In result, this will end up being a rather sloppy project. That said, I enjoyed doing it and plan to do more of these. Can't get better if I give up after the first try!

If anybody with more experience in this type of thing would like to make recommendations, PLEASE do. I welcome the help with paints, stencils, design in general - please do share.

Peace,
Jeffrey
